Creating your own character

Design a character from scratch: look, face, personality, and first message. Your first one is free.

Where to start

Open My Characters and tap Create a character. The Lounge host guides you through a short chat, and you can change everything before your character is drawn.

Choose how to start

The host asks how you want to create your character. Choose Write it myself to describe who you want to meet in your own words: looks, age, world, character, anything that matters to you. Or choose Surprise me, and the host picks the look and personality for you. Either way, you'll see the result as tags, and you can tap any tag to change it.

Fill in the details

If something is missing, the host asks about it, for example Realistic or Anime, Female or Male. Tap an option or describe it in your own words. Tap Back to return to the previous question.

Draw your character

Tap Draw her or Draw him. It takes about half a minute. You'll get three options: tap This one under the one you like, or tell the host what to change.

Give them a name

Your character joins the chat and asks what to call them. Type a name, and you can start chatting right away. Your character also appears in My Characters.

The panel on the right shows your character and the settings you've chosen.

Good to know

Your characters are private. They're visible only to you and can't be published to Discovery or shared with other users.

No real photos. Characters in The Lounge are always created from scratch, so uploading a photo or using a real person's face isn't available.

Drafts

Up to 5 at a time. Finish or delete one to start another

Generations

There's an hourly limit on generations, and up to 30 images per character per day. If you reach it, take a short break and try again

Pro tips

  • Check the tags before you tap Draw. Tap any tag to change it.

  • Don't like any of the three options? Tell the host what to change.

  • Keep the creator images in My Generations. If you delete them there, they also disappear from your character.

  • Starting over: tap the reset button at the top to reset everything you've chosen and begin again.

FAQ

Not at the moment. Your characters are private and visible only to you, and there's no way to earn from them.

The free greeting photo comes from characters in Discovery. Your own characters start the chat with a message, and you can ask them for photos as you talk.

For now, hide or delete the chat with that character instead. The character stays in My Characters. A hidden chat comes back when they write again, but once you delete the chat, they'll stop messaging you.

No. The free creation applies to your first finished character only, even if you delete it later.
